Jobs for Veterans Act: Questions and Answers Now Available for 17 Employment and Training Administration Programs

The Employment and Training Administration has prepared a series of questions and answers relating to the Jobs for Veterans Act that cover 17 programs administered by the agency.

The publication of these questions and answers follows the guidance that was released to the workforce investment system in Training and Employment Guidance Letter 5-03. Contacts:

Workforce Innovations 2004 Overview

Speakers include Elaine Chao (Secretary, USDOL), Emily S. DeRocco (Assistant Secretary, USDOL/ETA), Rick Perry (Governor, Texas), Tom Peters (author and management guru), Ron Peterson (President, Johns Hopkins Medical System), Diane Rath (Chair, Texas Workforce Commission), David Sampson (Assistant Secretary, US Department of Commerce), Susan Sclafani (Assistant Secretary, US Department of Education), Ernesto Sirolli (economic development expert), Michael Steele (Lt. Governor, Maryland), Hidehiko "TJ" Tajima (President, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas, Inc.), and Bruce Tulgan (generational expert).

Conference attendees will be able to choose from among 50 workshops, six Super Workshops, and three Town Hall Meetings with nearly 200 speakers. During the conference, the leadership of USDOL will discuss the President's Job Training Initiative, hold an interactive Town Hall meeting on the demand-driven vision of the workforce development system, host interactive workshops on integrated services and the new perspective on youth and adult services, and release the new integrated performance system (EMILE) to solicit public comment.

Over 12 industry clusters are highlighted in high-profile, showcase displays in this year’s dynamic Demand Driven Pavilion: Finance, Automotive, Biotechnology, Geospatial, Transportation, Retail, Hospitality, Information Technology, Energy and Healthcare.

National Apartment Association's Annual Conference

On June 24, The Business Relations Group staff hosted a workshop at the National Apartment Association’s Annual Conference in Las Vegas, NV, in partnership with Nevada’s BRG State Coordinator and local workforce system representatives. The purpose of the workshop is to educate the apartment industry about the benefits and services available through the public workforce system, highlighting the Youth, Older Worker, Apprenticeship, and Disabilities programs.
