Technical Assistance and Training

Youth Investments Summits
OYO is participating in a review of the three Youth Investments Summits held in 2001 (Orlando, Philadelphia and Denver). The summits were co-sponsored by DOL and Department of Education through "School and Main" and The Learning Center to build capacity for collaborative working relationships to better serve youth and to improve communications between organizations serving youth. The purpose of the review is to assess what worked well and to make recommendations for future summits. Contact: Mary Ann Donovan (202-693-3936; mdonovan@doleta.gov)

Job Corps is convening a Federal Project Manager Training Workgroup to develop a training package for Job Corps federal staff focusing on contract procurement, financial management and program review. The training is intended for federal employees for better oversight in field operations. Contact: Doug Small (202-693-3095; dsmall@doleta.gov)

Labor Exchange Performance Measures
The NO Division of Employment Services, in conjunction with Regional Office staff have begun training sessions for the roll-out of Labor Exchange Performance measures, which will go into effect on July 1, 2002. The first session was just completed in San Francisco, and sessions in each other ETA Region will follow. Region V is scheduled next on March 4-6 in St. Louis. Workforce Excellence Network

A Training and Employment Notice (TEN) was issued to the workforce investment system, providing information on the operational changes for the Workforce Excellence Network (WEN). The purpose of this Notice was to inform the system that the management of WEN will be transferred from DOL to the National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB), as of February 1, 2002, and to inform the system that DOL continues to be a partner of WEN.
