The OAS WIA Readiness Eligibility Workgroup meeting will be held in San Francisco, on November 14-16. A revised workplan of all WIA readiness activities for which OAS has responsibility is being prepared which will include activities, products and due dates.

Upcoming ETA Meetings



ETA issued a grant entitled "Workforce Excellence Network" to the State of West Virginia on October 25, 2001 for the continuation of technical assistance and the engagement of partner organizations from the public and private sectors of the workforce system to promote continuous improvement and to identify performance excellence in the workforce system.

The Workplace Learning Conference, in which DOL participates as a sponsor, will be held on December 2-4 in Chicago. The conference highlights successful partnership models for workplace learning concepts, strategies and tools across 4 program tracks. The Partnership and Linkages track emphasizes ways to strengthen business, labor and education partnerships and enhance the linkages between One-Stop Career Centers, economic development, skill standards, adult basic education, technical training, and skill standards. Other tracks include Program Design and Evaluation, Resources and Technologies, and Trends Affecting the Workplace and Workers.



The modification to the Pennsylvania WIA Plan remains under review.

The Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE) will host the Career and Technical Education Leadership Conference at the Washington Monarch Hotel in Washington, DC, November 27-29. The overall goal of the conference is to bring together and align initiatives that promote program quality in career and technical education.
