Rescission

During the week of September 24th, a decision was made to defer the announcement of State shares toward the rescission of formula funds included in the FY 2001 Supplemental Appropriation enacted in July. Questions are now being posed as to when the Administration plans to announce the amounts and we have been asked to draft a letter from the Secretary to the Appropriations Committee staff explaining the reasons for the delay and when an announcement is planned. Region IV Youth Investment Summit, Creating A Comprehensive Youth Investment Strategy: A Community Centered Approach, Decmeber 11-13, 2001, Denver, CO, will provide community-based teams the opportunity to come together and create a youth investment strategic plan that can be implemented in their area. Tradeswomen Conference

ATELS will be presenting two workshops at the upcoming National Tradeswomen Conference October 12-13 in Denver. Sue Allison and Laura Ginsburg, of national ATELS, will lead a workshop on "How Tradeswomen can use the Public Workforce Development System to enhance their skills and careers." Sally Uber, ATELS Regional Director in Region 4, will present a session on "Women in the Trades: An Apprenticeship Perspective."
